Mundo Japón presents “Warriors of Feudal Japan: Samurai and Ninjas”, a visual and educational exhibition that brings audiences closer to historical Japan through armor, weapons, iconography, and collectible pieces connected to the Edo period and Japan’s warrior culture. Organized by Bujinkan Kokoro Dojo La Laguna, the exhibition offers a guided journey through key figures such as the samurai, the ashigaru (infantry), the 47 Rōnin, and the Shinsengumi, combining carefully selected objects and replicas to provide context on their history, use, and symbolism.
What will you see?
-
A traditional samurai armor set (Marutake manufacture, 1960s–70s) and a tachi, the sword that preceded the katana.
-
Ashigaru equipment featuring a teppō (matchlock firearm) and original Edo-period elements (1603–1868).
-
A panel dedicated to the 47 Rōnin, highlighting their legacy of loyalty and duty, along with ukiyo-e reproductions depicting revenge.
-
A Shinobi (Ninja) section with weapons and details such as a shinobi-tō/ninja-tō, an original Edo-period tsuba, shuriken, jutte, and other period items.
-
Shinsengumi pieces and banners (featuring the kanji “Makoto”) and related graphic material.
-
Kakemono scrolls/paintings linked to the martial tradition (including works related to Masaaki Hatsumi) and a handcrafted painting made in Nikkō, one of Japan’s spiritual centers.
An exhibition ideal for general audiences, families, and Japanese culture enthusiasts: visually striking, historically clear, and highly photogenic.
